Social Prescribing
Since April 2018 Highcliffe Medical Centre hosted a social prescribing pilot. Dorset CCG have now decided to commission a social prescribing provision across the whole county.
Social prescribing, sometimes referred to as community referral, is a means of enabling GPs, nurses and other primary care professionals to refer people to a range of local, non-clinical services.
Recognising that people’s health is determined primarily by a range of social, economic and environmental factors, social prescribing seeks to address people’s needs in a holistic way. It also aims to support individuals to take greater control of their own health.
Social prescribing clinics will run on a Thursday afternoon in the private clinic and appointments are all pre-bookable. Patients aged 18+ are encouraged to make use of this free service. Please speak to a member of the Highcliffe Team for more information by calling 01425 272 203
